How to Make a Genuine Difference to – People, Planet and Profit

With the plethora of green and people-oriented initiatives out there, it’s no wonder some of them are green or ‘happy’ washing. Paying lip service to making a difference, but not actually making a difference.

Being in compliance for good, Risk Evolves were keen to find a standard that genuinely signified that an organisation worked to the benefit of the planet and people, whilst also managing to be a functioning, profitable business. Especially as, once found, they would be encouraging their own clients to consider this holistic approach.

BCorp certification has been a candidate to offer clients for some years, but Risk Evolves will never recommend clients do something that they themselves aren’t prepared to do. It was only in the last year that Risk Evolves had grown sufficiently to make BCorp a suitable certification for themselves.

Described by The Independent as the ‘crème de la crème’ of eco credentials, BCorp is a sustainability credential by global non-profit B Lab. With a mission to make it easier for companies to have a more positive impact on the planet and people, BCorp aligns itself with the United Nations sustainability development goals.

To become BCorp certified, Risk Evolves have had to prove their positive performance in governance, workers, customers, community and environment. With a threshold for certification of 80 points, Risk Evolves were delighted to have achieved 122 points.

It is with great pride that Risk Evolves joined high profile BCorp certified companies such as Cook Food Shops, Patagonia Clothing and Innocent Drinks at The Natural History Museum to celebrate the landmark of 1000 UK companies achieving the certification.

Managing Director of Risk Evolves, Helen Barge said,

It’s great to have found genuine recognition for the good that companies can deliver to people and planet at the same time as they go about their business. And now we have earned the certification, we feel confident in offering a service to help our own clients to win the right to BCorp accreditation.
