Pledging Our Support to the Armed Forces Community

2022 was a massive year for Risk Evolves regarding its support to the local and wider Armed Forces community… we…

Armed Forces Covenant Bronze Award

The company had links with the Armed Forces community already, but these three steps really took everything to the next level.

2021-2022 also saw a record year for the Armed Forces Covenant with more than 1,600 organisations signing the Covenant, rapidly closing in on 10,000 signatures since it’s introduction as a statutory requirement in the Armed Forces Act 2011.

The Armed Forces Covenant and Veterans Annual Report 2021-22 also highlighted a number of other successes including:

  • A £5 million Veterans’ Health Innovation Fund to support organisations looking to research and trial cutting-edge technology which could help veterans with complex healthcare needs, and,
  • A further 528 GP surgeries accredited as ‘veteran-friendly’, taking the total to 1,578

These two advances are of particular interest to me having been classified as a WIS (Wounded, Injured and Sick) soldier at the end of my career which ultimately led to my Medical Discharge.

Despite it being really daunting leaving the Army with a disability and having unfortunately experienced some discrimination for being part of the Armed Forces in the past, it is really reassuring to know that there are numerous employers out there that recognise the unique skills that people associated with the Armed Forces community have to offer.

The Covenant is a pledge by those that sign it to ensure that members of the Armed Forces community have the same access to government and commercial services and products as any other citizen. Not just that, it provides those leaving the Armed Forces community with the confidence that they can keep on making a difference and contributing to society in a positive way.

This year Risk Evolves are going one step further with our application for the Silver Award in the pipeline so that the organisation can continue to demonstrate it’s support to the Armed Forces community while also aiming to work towards the Gold award in the not too distant future!
