Why I joined Risk Evolves

Before we explore the reasons behind my enlistment in the Risk Evolves world, I feel it would be beneficial to give context.

The bulk of my previous employment history saw me working in the British Army. Whilst serving, all soldiers are exposed to the core values of the Army: SOLID_C

That is clearly an acronym, which breaks out as follows:

(SOLIDC) Selfless Commitment, Respect for Others, Loyalty, Integrity, Discipline, Courage

This ethos, along with the wide spectrum of experiences, moulded me as a person and helped shape my own values and personality.

When I left the military after over twenty years of service, I found myself working for a highly reputable Certification Body delivering audits of ISO management systems to their customers. All the core values I’d learned were brought into play in this role and helped me to successfully deliver over 200 audits for a wide range of customers from almost the full spectrum of the UK economy and beyond. One thing which struck me (metaphorically) was the variance of services delivered to organisations seeking certification by consultants assisting with implementing ISO systems. Both in terms of quality and suitability. I was genuinely shocked by how varied consultant services were; in some circumstances, so little was delivered beyond standard template packs and an expensive day rate for any support, which apparently grew by the minute.

Fast forward to January 2022 and the opportunity to join Risk Evolves presented itself. I’ve worked with Helen and the team since 2019 as their auditor for ISO27001, ISO9001 & the UK’s first ever ISO27701. I also encountered Risk Evolves when they have been the consultant for organisations seeking certification. What I noticed, and I can speak with the benefit of over 200+ audits, is the level of quality Risk Evolves delivered to their customers. The Risk Evolves consultants seemed to be part of the team, not sat outside of the team drawing money from the process. They were invested in whichever project they were asked to help deliver.

Risk Evolves practice what they preach and have sought certification against the ISO standards, which they help to implement. They’ve also sought to demonstrate ESG and were recently voted a top employer by the BCorp stream, so this is noted by bodies who measure such things. The ethos of Risk Evolves, in many respects, overlap with the SOLID_C values, which are so important to me personally. Every customer benefits from an approach which is proven to work by people who genuinely care and invest their time and personality into every delivery.

Why did I join Risk Evolves?

Simply put, there was no way I couldn’t; we don’t just say it, we really mean it: We are here to help.
